Kongo Community Baraza
Shamas Rugby Foundation hosted an introductory Baraza at Kongo Primary School in Kiambu. The purpose of the Baraza was to introduce SRF’s programs, staff and coaches to the parents and the community. Barazas are community engagements we have with parents of our beneficiaries to educate, deliberate and collaborate with parents in different ways to make the lives of their children better.
The program was facilitated by our social workers Linet Wahome and Florence Nyambura, who explained to parents the functions of our different programs; rugby, life skills and education. The session was followed by a brief of the counselling department led by Joyce Nyongo.
The meeting was attended by 106 parents who have children attending school at Kongo Primary. From the discussions parents and the school administration are very excited to have SRF engaging their children with different programs. They concluded that their children need such activities to develop a positive curiosity about the world beyond their community.
Over time we have come to acknowledge that parents play a critical role in the nurturing and growth of children; we will continue to work with parents to maximize the child’s growth and success in the future. We are strong believers in combined efforts towards making a difference in our communities.
This was made possible through the help of the Kongo Primary School administration SRF coaches and our social workers.
