Community Champions Training on Child Protection Policy

We hosted a Child Protection Policy training for our Community Champions. Our Child Protection Policy has been updated to fit the 2021 Kenya Child Protection Policy signed into law by the former president earlier this year.

Our Community Champions play a critical role in linking Shamas Rugby Foundation with the community. They are our ambassadors within the communities we work with . They act as our eyes and ears, especially when it comes to identifying and intervening on issues affecting parents and  beneficiaries   at home.

At Shamas Rugby the interests of children comes first,  it is important for our; staff, volunteers, coaches and community partners to understand and embrace any policy that protects children    as SRF has high regards for the   safeguarding of the interests and rights of children.

We trained 17 Community Champions from across the all 7 SRF centres on our child protection policy. We discussed and clarified on some of the sensitive clauses. After they understood the policy, they signed and agreed to abide by it. This happened days before the two month long holiday starts. Our aim is to equip all our staff and volunteers with skills to enable us to execute our program effectively especially during this holiday season. We believe with this knowledge they will be able to execute our programs effectively.
